Principle of Operation

The LWL screen scroll centrifuge is a machine that continuously conducts the process operations such as feeding, dewatering, washing, and discharging for suspension at full speed. Before running the machine, the power supply is first connected, the machine is started and its speed increases automatically. When the predetermined speed is reached, the feed valve opens, and the slurry to be separated continuously enters a feed system through the feed tube and is distributed to the wall of the screen bowl through the several pores on the wall of the small end of a scroll. Under centrifugal force, the liquid phase in the suspension swirls out through the screen and the pores on the bowl wall and discharged from the machine through the filtrate outlet of the casing. The solid phase is retained on the screen, forming a thin layer of filter cake. Due to the centrifugal component of the filter cake being oriented towards the large end along the busbar of the screen bowl in the centrifugal force field, coupled with the push force generated towards the same direction by the scroll, these two forces continuously transport the filter cake from the small end to the large end of the screen bowl. The filter cake is constantly flipped by the spiral blades during the movement to greatly enhance the separation process and pushed out of the large bowl end and discharged from the machine through the outlet of the casing, achieving solid-liquid separation.

Design of products

LWL screen scroll centrifuge is mainly composed of a rotating components (scroll and screen bowl, etc.), differential, dual motors (main and auxiliary motors), dual variable frequency drives, integrated frame, fully sealed casing, feed tube, and automatic control system, and used for solid-liquid separation and solid-phase dewatering on various suspensions with solids being larger particle size.

Special design features

With continuous operation, scroll discharge, high capacity, excellent product moisture, good washing effect, high separation efficiency; compact structure, easy operation and convenient maintenance, LWL screen scroll centrifuge can be equipped with the of cylindrical or conical screen bowl and different angles of scroll which determines the discharge speed and filter cake retention time on the screen. The angle is determined by the manufacturer according to process requirements. The machine’s structural materials in contact with slurry can be austenitic stainless steel (321, 316, ...), Hastelloy alloy, titanium alloy, or other corrosion-resistant materials according to the customer requirements.

Applications

The LWL screen scroll centrifuge is a horizontal, continuous operating, scroll discharge filtering centrifuge, mainly used for the separation and dewatering of liquid-solid suspensions with a solid particle size range of 0.05-10mm, and applied in chemical, food, chemical fiber, mining and metallurgy, pharmaceutical, and light industries.
